On some motherboards, for instance my current gaming machine, GIGABYTE X299 DESIGNARE EX, when I have a SSD in slot A, I can install an extra Pcie network card. I'm assuming you are talking about plugging direct into the motherboard and not simply plugging in a mouse. Go in reverse and unplug things 1 at a time and see if that fixes it. This is why I suspect Windows 10 itself might have the issue. I've uninstalled them all and reinstalled with latest driver packs and nothing has resolved the issue. You can see there are audio related devices under The Creative System Information tool does a good job of capturing device information, so I'm attaching it's findings. The Audio Trobleshooter does not find or fix it. Both are installed now and I have all kinds of audio devices in Device Manager, but windows just keeps showing that red circle with an X. Thinking it might be a hardware issue, I even installed another sound card (Soundblaster Audigy FX) and got the same results. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers many times. If I open Sound tool from the control panel, it shows "No audio devices are installed" in the playback devices. The tooltip for it says "No Audio Output Device Is Installed" After everything had been connected, I get a red circle with an X on it over the audio speaker in the tray. Initially, before all the hard drives and USB devices had been connected to the motherboard, audio was working fine.
